Fall perennial gardening

I spent this afternoon dividing irises. And I barely touched the surface. I have two huge clumps and as far as I can figure they were either planted in a ring that let chives and weeds grow up around them or they have kind of died from the center out. I chopped away about one third of one clump and replanted two small areas with some of the new pieces. More on perennials in the fall....
